Are you running Debian? I believe I just did `sudo apt-get install libavl-dev'. If you're doing it manually, I'd make sure you're getting both the header files and the library files in the right places, but you can probably just install a package.

Hi,

where did you get libavl ? I have compile and installed this http://libavl.sourcearchive.com/downloads/0.3.5/ (and also tried with many others). The build produced libavl.so, I have also copied the headers file into /usr/include. But all this doesn't seem to make ./configure happy:

checking avl.h usability... yes
checking avl.h presence... yes
checking for avl.h... yes
checking for avl_alloc_tree in -lavl... no
configure: error: libavl not found
